THE BADGES BASKETBALL COMPETITION

BATTLE OF THE BADGES BASKETBALL COMPETITION

On June 14, 2013 the Monrovia Police Officer’s Association took on the Monrovia Fire Association in the 2nd annual “Battle of the Badges” charity basketball game.  The competition was held at the Monrovia High School Gym and tickets were sold to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society.  The event was a success and raised over $3000.

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem.  Unfortunately, the Monrovia Police Officer’s Association, as with many other Monrovia community members has been affected either directly or indirectly by cancer.  Hosting an event to raise not only awareness to cancer, but to raise much needed support for a worthy cause is what  the Monrovia Police Officer’s Association represents.

We would like to say thank you to all of you who came out to support the cause and a special thanks to the following businesses and organizations who kindly donated the raffle prizes for the event: Gene’s Grinders, Jake’s Roadhouse, Krikorian Movie Theater, Merengue Bakery & Café, Rudy’s Mexican Food, T Phillips Alehouse, and Foothill Air Support Team (F.A.S.T.)

Congratulations to the Monrovia Fire Association for their success in this year’s completion. The final score was 55 to 44.

We look forward to our 3rd annual “Battle of the Badges” event next year, and we hope to see you there!
